Work on six restoration projects in different parts of Historic Willemstad were completed recently.

Villa Washington - L.B.Smithplein 4-6, Otrobanda

Mansion with composite structure in a traditional design. One-storey front structure and two-storey rear structure separated by an open two-storey gallery with staircases at both ends. Villa Washington was the former residence of L.B. Smith, American consul and renowned benefactor of Curaçao. Built in last quarter of 19th century.

Townhouse - Ferdinandstraat 10-12, Otrobanda

Two-storey townhouse in the heart of residential Otrobanda. Typical details include hipped roofs, cornice continuing around the façades, dentate quoins on corners, central wooden balcony with balusters of fretwork and two fronton topped gates flanking the front façade.
Built probably in the last quarter of the 19th century.

Townhouse - Windstraat 15, Punda

Three storey structure in typical alley of Punda with rare wooden full-frontage two-tiered gallery on first and second floor covered with lean-to roof with overhang. Gallery constructed with six flat arches supported by wooden pillars. Built in 1748.

Mansion Pachi de Sola - A.M. Chumaceiro Boulevard 13 / Scharlooweg 150-152, Scharloo

Two-storey landmark mansion of Scharloo with gable roofs forming a cruciform floor plan. Structure features typical 18th century inward and outward curved gables, an open gallery and balcony flanked by stairs with steps worked with ornaments in coral stone and ‘Ysselsteen’ masonry. Built in first half of 18th century, adaptations made in second half of 19th century.

Mansion Aura Winkel (‘La Maria’) - Scharlooweg 72-76, Scharloo

Large three-storey mansion dating from the 18th century but heavily renovated in the 1930’s. Tower with pyramidal roof on western corner and terrace over front gallery. Large front façade with wooden front balcony. Architectural and cultural historical value because of floor plan typical of Curaçao, characteristic decorative details and authentic interior dating from the thirties.

Townhouse Zaantjessteeg 1-3, Otrobanda

Two-storey corner structure in Otrobanda’s alley area with core, front and rear gallery typical of Curaçao. Characteristic funnel-shaped gables with shoulders and 19th century top ends featuring an oculus in a star moulding. Built in 1858.
